A Textile Pioneer

Ruth Adler Schnee has been a pioneer in the world of textile design for over 50 years. After fleeing Nazi Germany, she settled in Detroit and became the first woman to earn a graduate degree in architecture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Inspired by the growing metropolis, she began to create textiles that evoked the skyscrapers and industrial of Detroit. Now 91, she was just named a 2015 Kresge Eminent Artist.
