Fall conjures images of fresh starts. Chicago’s restaurant scene is no exception. Here are eight of the most anticipated restaurants opening in the Windy City once the leaves start falling.

Chop Shop and The 1st Ward

This multi-tiered, Wicker Park venue will pack four punches in one: a restaurant (headed by Urban Union’s Joshua Marrelli), bar, deli and butcher shop. The attached event space (The 1st Ward) will house live acts and creative events.

RPM Steak

The Melman brothers and the Rancics will bring a contemporary steakhouse to River North. Even though they’re not looking to repeat the Italian flavors of their predecessor, RPM Italian, their classic meatballs may make an appearance. 

Moxee

Microbrewing comes to University Village with Moxee’s in-house brewing operation, Mad Mouse. You’ll be able to taste exclusive beers only available on the premises.

The Radler and D.A.S. 

A two-for-one deal, Natan Sears and Adam Hebert teamed up to bring Chicago two Bavarian restaurants in one. Expect house-made, locally-sourced Bavarian-style encased meats, as well as an aged-beer program and a smaller chef’s table (seating 10) where a six-course contemporary tasting menu is served.

Tippling Hall

The brothers who brought you the kegged cocktail program at Tavernita are now dabbling in beer. Expect this hall to house long communal tables and serve global comfort food.

Eataly

Here’s what this massive Italian food emporium will fit in 60,000 square feet: six full-service restaurants, an on-site brewery complete with a tasting room, a cooking school with event space and groceries. Talk about one-stop shopping…dining…and eating.

The Promontory

Little is known about this gem set to hit Hyde Park. What we do know is that it was built from reclaimed materials from Hyde Park’s Piccadilly Theater and that the popular team, Longman & Eagle (Parson’s Chicken & Fish), are behind the new space.

NICO

Two superstar chefs, Erling Wu-Bower (moving over from Avec) and pastry genius Amanda  Rockman (Balena, L20), will join Paul Kahan on his latest project at the Thompson Chicago Hotel. Expect an Italian menu focused on fresh, seasonal fish and seafood.
